It is better to be safe than sorry because protecting your cargo and belongings should come first when shipping, whether by air, sea, train or road. Putting seals on your freight or load will give one a sense of security and peace of mind. There are many ways to keep cargo theft-free and protected.

There are different protection modes, especially regarding goods or loads shipped by road. In most cases, shipping by road is done using dry vans, step decks and flatbeds. Usually, dry vans already have protection because of the box in which loads are stored inside, while step decks and flatbeds do not have any of that. The following are security types of equipment used in trucks and trailers to secure and protect loads.

Straps

Straps are equipment used to secure loads by buckling them up during transportation. A Tie-down strap comes in two types: loop straps and two-piece straps. A loop strap is a piece of closely and firmly woven fabric tied around and over the load and fastened at both endpoints by a tie-down fastener, which provides tension and secures the load.

Truck Seals/Trailer Seals

Truck or trailer seals are theft busters because they can easily expose one if the cargo is tampered with. These truck seals promote security and protection from other environmental damage until the load or cargo reaches its final destination. If it is by any chance unhinged or opened, it cannot be closed or re-used again, depending on the type of seal one is using.

Types Of Security Seals

Each security seal has its own advantage. Like any other product, when it is sold, it is easy to identify whether it has been used or tampered with before with the help of a seal. A seal is a security measure done for extra protection and to guarantee authenticity.

  • Bolt seals are most preferred, especially when transporting goods/loads by road. These bolt seals are made of metal, which is a strong and durable material. Their outward part is made of plastic.
  • Cable seals are made like pull-through seals, but they only use a cable to secure the load . It can indicate when it has been tampered with because after pulling the cable, it does not open again, and unless
  • Plastic seals-just cable seals, plastic seals use the exact mechanism of pulling th through and securing. They are also anti tamper and show if there has been unauthorized action.

Security seals may be small, but they play a vital role in the freight and logistics industry. When opting for trucking seals, one should opt for tamper-evident seals, not reusable ones, because it would be difficult to determine whether the products or loads have been mismanaged or stolen. Seals are vital because they help protect one`s  goods in transit from theft; not only that but they also.
